New Parking Lot

Filed under: Capital Outlay Projects @ 1:36 pm and

The new parking lot at the junior high and high school had two layers of asphalt put on it this past week. It sounds like Lien Construction will be putting a thin layer of fine sand on it next week. It may be some time before we are able to use the lot. The engineer for this project is recommending that we don’t allow traffic on the parking lot for several weeks, possibly longer.

Distinguished School District

Filed under: NCLB Data @ 12:57 pm and

The Groton Area School District is one of only four school districts in the state identified as a “Distinguished District” on the No Child Left Behind 2010 State Report Card. Distinguished Districts are identified using the following criteria: (a) met AYP for two consecutive years in reading, math, and other academic indicators for all three grade spans AND (b) at least 85% of the students in the “all student” group have met the state’s proficient and advanced levels of student performance in both reading and math. I am very proud of our students and staff. You have shined once again! What a great way to start the 2010-2011 school year!

Welcome Back

Filed under: Back to School @ 12:24 pm and

Welcome back to the 2010-2011 school year. The first week of school has gone well. The weather has cooperated and the students and staff appear to be settling in to a new routine. I would like to thank all of you that attend the Welcome Back picnic and Open House on Monday night, August 23. We served about 625 people at the picnic. Family and community support is an integral part of the success of our students. Hopefully, many of you also had an opportunity to walk through our new addition and remodeled classrooms at the junior high and high school. These improvements have been a welcome addition to our facilities.
